This particular project began with a clear vision from our clients, who had recently installed new concrete but wanted to take their outdoor space to the next level. They sought to integrate a variety of hardscape elements to transform their patio into a welcoming oasis perfect for family gatherings and entertaining. Landscape Designer Bre Cotter collaborated closely with the clients to bring their ideas to life while ensuring every detail was meticulously planned.

The Project: Elevating Outdoor Living

The scope of this project included designing and installing a new pergola with adjustable louvers, elegant pillars, a grill station, a comfortable seat wall, and softscape elements complemented by landscape lighting. The project was a collaboration with Artisan Deck & Outdoor Living, adding sophistication and functionality to the overall design. Production Manager Connor Seamonson played a crucial role in bringing the vision to fruition, ensuring that each element was seamlessly integrated into the existing concrete.

 

The Challenges: Working with Existing Hardscape

One of the unique challenges we faced was the asymmetrical nature of the existing concrete. While it was well-installed, it posed a challenge for the design of the seat walls around the fire pit, which could not be mirrored as typically preferred. Our team tackled this obstacle by creatively adjusting the design to accommodate the concrete layout, ensuring that the finished project met the client’s high standards.

The result was a beautifully designed outdoor space that exceeded the clients’ expectations. The addition of the pergola with its rotating louvers provided versatile shade and an open-air feel, while the grill station and seat wall created the perfect spot for entertaining.
