The Story Behind This DeForest Patio Project
This project began with a clear vision from our clients. They had recently installed new concrete, but wanted to take their outdoor space to the next level.
The goal was to create a welcoming backyard space that could support:

Landscape Designer Bre Cotter collaborated closely with the clients to bring their ideas to life while making sure every detail was carefully planned.

The scope of this project included several custom outdoor living features designed to work together as one cohesive space.

The project was completed in collaboration with Artisan Deck & Outdoor Living, adding another layer of craftsmanship and functionality to the overall design.
Production Manager Connor Seamonson also played an important role in bringing the vision to life, making sure each element was integrated into the existing concrete.
The Challenge: Working With Existing Hardscape
One of the unique challenges of this project was the asymmetrical shape of the existing concrete.
Although the concrete was well-installed, it created a design challenge for the seat walls around the fire pit. Typically, seat walls are mirrored for symmetry, but this layout required a more customized approach.
Our team adjusted the design to work with the patio’s existing shape while still creating a balanced, comfortable, and attractive fire pit area.
From Concrete Patio to Cozy Outdoor Living Space
The result was a beautifully designed outdoor space that exceeded the clients’ expectations.
The pergola with rotating louvers added flexible shade and an open-air feel. The grill station created a dedicated place for outdoor cooking, while the seat wall helped define the fire pit area and added comfortable seating.
Landscape lighting brought warmth and ambiance to the space, making the patio inviting during both daytime relaxation and evening gatherings.
