Employee Spotlight: Amanda Pruss
Who Is Amanda Pruss at Carrington Lawn & Landscape?
If you’ve worked with Carrington Lawn & Landscape, there’s a good chance you’ve already felt Amanda Pruss’ impact, even if you haven’t met her yet. As Director of Business Development, Amanda helps shape how Carrington Lawn & Landscape shows up in the market by building trust, strengthening partnerships, and making sure commercial property teams have a snow and ice management partner they can count on.
Based in Waunakee, Wisconsin, Amanda is in and around the Madison-area communities every day, including Middleton, Waunakee, Cross Plains, Sun Prairie, and Verona — staying close to the people, properties, and partnerships that make our work meaningful.
This spotlight has a simple purpose: to introduce you to Amanda the way clients experience her, professional, direct, and relationship-driven, and to share a clearer look at the people and values behind Carrington Lawn & Landscape.
The Carrington Lawn & Landscape Difference
Amanda’s path to Carrington Lawn & Landscape started the same way many strong partnerships do: through trusted industry relationships. She connected with Sean Carrington through the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA), and that professional familiarity made Carrington Lawn & Landscape feel like the right fit, not just a new role, but a company culture she already respected.
When asked what stood out most, Amanda points to two things: the team and a real commitment to safety. Carrington Lawn & Landscape’s culture is intentional; the kind of place where people take pride in their work, look out for each other, and stay aligned around doing things the right way, even when conditions are demanding and timelines are tight.
Since joining the team, she’s been especially impressed by how Carrington Lawn & Landscape invests behind the scenes: infrastructure, equipment, training, and safety systems that support consistent performance and clear communication for clients. It’s not always the most visible part of the job, but it’s what clients feel when service is dependable, and expectations are managed proactively.
That preparation reflects Carrington Lawn & Landscape’s larger identity. Founded by Sean Carrington and serving the community since 1998, Carrington Lawn & Landscape has built its reputation on quality, reliability, and long-term relationships across every division and every season.
Amanda’s Role as Director of Business Development
Amanda is the kind of business development leader who doesn’t treat relationships as a transaction. Her work is about deepening trust, not “checking a box.”
In her role as Director of Business Development, Amanda focuses on:
- Strengthening relationships with potential and existing commercial partners.
- Helping Carrington Lawn & Landscape become more widely known as a go-to provider in the region.
- Reinforcing what the company is built on: communication, excellent work, and a team-first culture.
She’s also the kind of person who enjoys building what lasts. Not just “winning” something, but designing processes and partnerships that hold up season after season.
The Most Rewarding Part? The People.
Ask Amanda what she enjoys most about her work, and she doesn’t start with numbers. She starts with people.
She says she gets energy from working within the team, collaborating on projects, improving processes, and helping the business move forward in ways that feel organized and sustainable.
That fits Carrington Lawn & Landscape well. Our mission is rooted in growth; creating personal and professional growth opportunities so Carrington Lawn & Landscape can improve the lives of its team, clients, and local community.
Over a Decade of Skill Refinement
Amanda brings 15+ years of experience in the commercial landscape and snow industry, specifically in account management and business development.
But what’s interesting about Amanda is how she blends industry knowledge with relationship intelligence. She credits part of her skill-building to something many people overlook: hospitality work. She spent years waitressing and bartending, learning to communicate clearly, manage multiple moving pieces at once, and provide great service, all skills that translate directly into commercial client relationships.
Goals and Growth
Amanda is focused on two priorities this year: strengthening relationships with Carrington Lawn & Landscape’s longtime “legacy” clients and building partnerships with new commercial accounts that are the right fit.
As the company grows, she sees the biggest challenge as staying intentional about tools and technology, especially as AI and platforms evolve, and choosing solutions that support the team and the way Carrington Lawn & Landscape operates, not ones that add complexity. Because Carrington Lawn & Landscape is built to be structured and process-driven, growth only works when the systems stay strong.
Amanda’s Approach to Long-Term Partnerships
Amanda knows what commercial property teams value because she has spent years working alongside them. For her, strong partnerships start with the basics: clear communication, proactive service, and dependable follow-through.
She is also realistic about the day-to-day. Challenges come up. What matters is how your partner responds. Amanda believes in quick communication, clear ownership, and closing the loop with a plan and action.
Another part of her approach is truly knowing each site. When you understand a property inside and out, you can spot changes early, raise concerns before they become problems, and help clients plan instead of scrambling.
Amanda also emphasizes alignment. Carrington Lawn & Landscape will not be the right fit for every property, and the best relationships are built when expectations are shared from the start. From there, she focuses on doing what she says she will do, communicating consistently, and staying informed about industry shifts that can affect materials, timelines, and service. The goal is simple: protect consistency for the client and build trust that lasts season after season.
Snow Expertise and Industry Leadership: Where Amanda Brings Extra Depth
Amanda supports Carrington Lawn & Landscape’s commercial snow and ice management relationships, and she brings deep experience in snow and ice management that commercial properties rely on. She has worked in the snow industry since 2003, with experience across estimating and bidding, project management, production, account management, and day-to-day site execution.
Certifications and Associations
Amanda holds her Advanced Snow Manager credential and is an active member of SIMA. She is also involved with SIMA’s Education Selection Committee.
Women in Snow: Building a Stronger Industry
One of the most meaningful parts of Amanda’s professional impact is her advocacy for women in the industry. She helped launch SIMA’s Women in Snow Interest Group to create stronger pathways, community, and practical policies that help women thrive in the field. She also values that the group is inclusive, supporting both women and industry leaders who want to improve recruiting and retention.
What Makes Carrington Lawn & Landscape’s Snow Approach Different?
When asked what sets Carrington Lawn & Landscape apart in snow and ice management, Amanda starts with leadership. Snow is one of the most demanding service environments, and she respects that Sean Carrington stays invested in learning the details that drive performance, including technology, equipment, products, and safety practices. She also calls out the emphasis on PPE as a clear reflection of how much the company cares about its team.
That leadership mindset shows up in how Carrington Lawn & Landscape operates: preparation, training, smart technology use (including mapping and efficiency tools), and more sustainable approaches like liquid de-icing to help reduce salt impact.
The Grit and Discipline Behind the Scenes
In a seasonal, high-demand industry, Amanda is intentional about staying balanced. Outside of Carrington Lawn & Landscape, she enjoys time outdoors and looks for chances to recharge with travel and local adventures.
If there is one trait that shows up in everything she does, it is grit. Amanda stays steady under pressure, keeps multiple priorities moving, and brings a calm, optimistic energy to the teams she supports. That mindset is a big part of what makes her effective in business development, where long-term relationships are built through consistency, follow-through, and trust.
