The Design Process

Landscape architecture requires a fair amount of preparation. Each landscape installation begins with an on-site consultation where you will meet face-to-face with our landscape architect to  discuss your  goals  and visions for your landscape. During the visit, our landscape architect will document current condition of the landscape by taking  photos and  measurements, as well as discussing potential design solutions with you.

Following the initial meeting, our team will develop a design solution, and then draft a written proposal that will outline the scope of  work.  Additional items may include a scaled plan, sketches, and other documents needed to best depict the designed solution. The  presentation of  this  material will take place during a follow-up appointment, at which time the landscape architect will present the  proposed design solution and estimated project cost.

Design is not an exact science, and more often than not, minor revisions may be necessary to adjust the plan to meet your preferences. Whether your design involves a hardscape installation or specialized landscape features, our goal is to create a final product that you will absolutely love. We encourage you to speak up during the any phase of the design process, as revisions are far easier to implement prior to installation.

Upon project acceptance and submittal of deposit by the client, the job is posted onto our installation schedule. Prior to installation, our landscapers will acquire all materials and coordinate the marking of all public utilities. You will receive instructions for any preparations that you may be responsible for (i.e. marking private lines, irrigation, dog fence or making sure certain areas are clean of obstacles). Any final decisions regarding materials and colors will be made at this time.

Carrington Lawn & Landscape also provides design-only services, but availability of this service will fluctuate with the season and will typically be more available in fall and winter months.

The Installation Process

As the installation date approaches, you will be updated with a projected start date. All start dates are weather-dependent and subject to change. Our crews typically arrive between 7:30 and 8:30 in the morning. Our landscape architect will walk the crew through the project prior to installation. If, during the installation, you are contemplating a change in the landscaping designs, we ask that you contact the landscape architect to carry out the necessary steps to complete a change order. However, if you have questions about particular details regarding your installation, please do not hesitate to approach our installation crew leader. We pride ourselves on friendly and knowledgeable staff, and we want you to feel comfortable approaching us with any questions or concerns.

Once the project installation is complete you will be contacted by the landscape architect to ensure that all elements of the proposal have been satisfied. You may be asked to complete a brief survey about your recent experience with us. We ask that you please fill it out completely and honestly as we take your feedback very seriously. We strive to maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction, and we could not do that without you. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this process.
